Summer Term Newsletter
Well we are in the last term for before the summer holidays, can you believe it? A lot has happened within the last half term, Becky has settled in very well, she has already brought a lot to the preschool, the children are enjoying the range of fun activities and cuddles that are provided by her. We have been on some really amazing trips that have been linked with Calstock reception class as part of the children transition to school, just to add we have had feedback on how well the children listened and behaved whilst being out in their local environment. We have also seen the sun wahoo! Could all children please be provided with sun cream and hats at all times, we take great care when the sun is shining but we don’t want it to stop us enjoying it! Another change to benefit the preschool and parents greatly is a change of online learning journals. We have joined TAPESTRY. Tapestry helps us to link with you as parents to record, track and celebrate children’s progress. The journal is shared online, you will be able to see your child’s progress through images, videos and text on your pc, tablet or mobile app. There will be an activation email sent out shortly to the email address on your child registration form. If this has changed or you would like to add family members please speak to Leanne. Although we do a daily register Ofsted require PARENTS to sign their children in and out of preschool, and also like to know why children have been absent, so we now have signing in/out sheets these will be on the hatchway to the kitchen, starting from now on. I know this will take some getting used to so we have prizes for the parents that sign in and out each day for a month. The challenge is on, who will win? Thank you for all the amazing ‘WOW’ moments that have been sent in, the children have really enjoyed talking about them to their friends at circle time, this has encouraged self confidence in speaking within a familiar group. These ‘WOW’ moments are now displayed within the preschool for everyone to see. If you would like another ‘WOW’ sheet they will be available to take from the entrance hall. We feel it is very important to be led by the children’s interests to support their learning, we have been watching the children closely during the last half term to look at their interests during their play. They have been very keen and interested in growth, water play, sand, role play shops. This has brought us nicely onto the topic –Summer! This topic will be broken down into under the sea, beach and water and camping!
Children have had the chance to input into the planning from group discussions on what they would like to learn about. Although the children have had a really big input on their learning we would also like parents views to what their children enjoy about the topic at home.
During this topic our role play area will be an ice cream shop, we can’t wait to see what kind of play happens within in this space.
NEWSFLASH- Thursday (based at the school) are open to all age’s 2-4years. This is a great opportunity to get children used to the school environment. Please speak to Leanne about booking your child in, it will lovely to see some new Thursday faces join us at the school after the summer!
